Our Management Development Programme

We offer a comprehensive development programme that can last between 6 and 12 months depending on your experience. Our programme comprises both on the job training and class room based training. We believe that working within our organisation at restaurant level will give you the best insight into the workings of our business.

During your Management Development Programme you will learn the following aspects of the business:

  • Restaurant Training
    • This will concentrate on the basic skills covering all aspects of working in a Supermac’s restaurant.
  • Managerial Training
    • During the managerial aspect of your training you will learn the key skills required for managing a Supermac’s outlet.

Managerial Training

To progress through to managerial level within Supermac’s you will require a number of different skills. At Supermac’s these skills will be learned and developed by working within the store and also through classroom based lessons. The skills you will learn during your training period are outlined below.

  • Managing & motivating a team
  • Financial & analytical skills
  • Organisation & Planning skills
  • People management
  • Staff recruitment
  • Local marketing

Our People

Ciaran Stewart

Ciaran StewartCiaran first worked for Supermac’s in 1995 at Headford Road as a staff member. He quickly progressed to the position of Assistant Manger at Headford Road in 1997 where he held the position for 2 years. Following this he was appointed Store Manager in 1999, a position he held for 3 years.

Ciaran was promoted to the position of Area Manager for Galway in 2001. He was the area manager for eight stores in Galway city and county. This involved working with store managers to control costs, recruit new staff, manage revenue and meet targets for the area.

In 2006 Ciaran was appointed Operations Manager for Papa Johns in Ireland. Papa Johns is a franchise operation in Ireland. Ciaran is responsible for the growth and development of Papa Johns in the Irish market.


Theresa Connelly

Theresa ConnellyTherese joined Supermac’s in 1998 as a Store Manager at our restaurant in Castlebar. Therese then took over full responsibility for the store when she managed it as a franchise for two years. Following this she became Area Manager for the Midland’s. During her time she had responsibility for 10 stores.

After taking a career break Theresa moved to Kerry and became Area Manager for restaurants in the Kerry and north Cork region.


Yang Zhao

Yang ZhaoYang joined Supermac’s in 2003 as a team member working in our restaurant at O’Connell Street in Dublin. He progressed to the position of Trainee Manager a year later and the position of Assistant Manager in 2005.

During the course of his training period Yang had expressed an interest in working in the South of Ireland. An opportunity arose for Yang to become the manager of Supermac’s in Mallow, Co. Cork. Following a period managing Supermac’s Mallow Yang was promoted to the position of Area Manager for the Cork region. He has responsibility for a number of stores in the Cork area.
